Lazarus Island carp

The Lazarus Island carp, last seen in Singapore in 1921, was thought to be extinct. In 2009, a female carp was rediscovered in a small pond on an offshore island. The discovery was kept secret to protect the species from further disturbance. Researchers have successfully repopulated the pond with four other individuals by artificial asexual reproduction.
